Huawei Spark x School Bright

Brief
The Huawei Spark programme aims to assist start-ups across Asia in scaling up. We were tasked with creating short documentaries exploring the stories of three start-ups, with the goal of elevating Spark's visibility to consumers, entrepreneurs, and policy-makers.

School Bright is now Thailand’s largest education tech startup. It supports 400,000 students and 200,000 teachers in over 500 schools. It plans to list itself on a stock market in 2025 or earlier.

Strategy
Our goal with this film series was not just to appeal to a narrow B2B audience, but instead to tell a story that would generate genuine interest amongst a diverse audience. With this in mind, we chose to craft stories which focused on the human stories behind these start-ups - exploring the personal stories of the founders and their journeys. In the case of our third film about School Bright, a Bangkok based digital school management platform that links schools, parents, and students, we successfully weaved the founder's powerful personal story into his company's story about one expansion challenge that they had once dealt with. While filming the story, the company has succesfully tackled the aforementioned challenge. Therefore, we recreated conversations and scenes that the event had once involved.   The city of Bangkok also provides a perfect backdrop for the film. We captured both the bustling urban life and the vibrant local color, making the film not only rich in narrative, but also abundant in visual imagery. Drawing on the founder's inspiring personal story, we also managed to keep the film's narrative oriented towards an business / entrepreneurial audience. While emphasizing the founder's tenacity that he has gained over the years, we also showcased the importance of finding the right support when he ventured out to grow his business, highlighting both the roles that the founder and Huawei played in this story of success.
