The TrackAI project is the first film in a series of films profiling Huawei's collaboration with startups across Europe. In this film, we were assigned to shoot DIVE, a Spanish start-up that utilized Huawei's artifical intelligence and developed an easy-to-use device for non-trained professionals to identify these children with visual disorders.
While planning for the film, we had to juggle between two key storylines – DIVE Medical's journey as well as their partnership with Huawei. Our aim was to humanise this story by telling it through the lens of Julietta, who was diagnosed with congenital cataracts when she was one year old.
The film could have ended up as an impersonal, corporate technology story. However we pushed to utilise authentic documentary storytelling to ensure that the impact of the technology could be emotively conveyed.
The film will be broadcast on CNN.
